Gairloch Pharmacy has confirmed its private flu and covid vaccination service has started this week with either or both vaccinations available for those not eligible for NHS vaccinations.
The pharmacy will also be offering NHS flu vaccinations from Thursday 8th October with booking now open and has applied to be able to provide an NHS Covid service which if approved, would be available from early November.
The Torridon Hotel has become one of five hotels in Scotland awarded a Key for 2026 for the first time by the Michelin Guide.
A Michelin Key is the hotel equivalent of a Michelin Star, an award already held by the Torridon’s 1887 restaurant, and denotes what is described as “a very special stay”.
A spokesperson for the hotel said they are delighted to have achieved the Key in the same year as the restaurant was awarded a Michelin Star with both these accolades being a testament to the dedication, passion and attention to detail from the hotel staff.
Gruinard Bay Caravan Park has been granted planning permission to increase its ability to operate for longer each year.
Previously the business was permitted to open from the beginning of April for seven months but now been granted an extension to allow operation from the beginning of March until the end of November.
A Highland Council planning officer confirmed that the extension does not involve any physical expansion of the site and does not alter the scale or nature of the existing use with all necessary infrastructure and site management unchanged.
This year’s Highland Business Award winners were announced last weekend.
The top award, Business of the Year, was given to Serimax Limited an international welding and pipeline technology specialist located on Evanton Industrial Estate. Serimax also won the awards for International Success crediting its long running apprenticeship and training programmes for driving its global project work from its Ross-shire base.
Kenny McMillan, managing director of Highland Coast Hotels which runs six hotels on the North Coast 500 route, was named Business Leader of the Year. Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival was also a winner in the Corporate Community Impact category.
