A new £2 million pounds Workforce North Co-Investment Fund has opened for applications providing employers across the Highlands with support to recruit, train and develop the skilled workforce needed to meet future demand with the Highland Council contributing an additional £1.2 million pounds in order to support local businesses.
By bringing together public and private sector investment, the fund will create a potentially transformative opportunity to help businesses build the talent and skills required to support future economic growth and maximise the benefits of an anticipated £100 billion pounds of investment across the Highlands and Islands over the next 15 years.
Community Transport Scotland has announced that applications are open for community transport organisations to apply for funding to cover the cost of a new or second hand fully electric vehicle for community use.
Funding covers 100% of costs up to £ 75,000 for vehicles which are zero emission and fully electric and may be for cars, multi purpose vehicles, minibuses or vans. Additional funding is also available to cover any necessary accessibility adaptations and charging infrastructure up to a total grant award of £95,000. No match funding is required and a total fund of £ 4 million pounds is available with full details from Community Transport Scotland.
Bad Na Scalaig Croft situated some 4 miles from Gairloch and extending to just under 900 acres of land has been put on the market for sale.
The croft comprises established native woodlands with eligibility for the Forestry Grant regeneration scheme and includes a former keeper’s cottage and byre on non-crofted land which may have potential for redevelopment subject to planning permission.
Approval is in place for a new access road and bridge off the A832.
