The Applecross Inn, one of Wester Ross’ best known and award winning destinations has been put on the market for sale.
Judith Fish who has run the Inn for 38 years and who has built it into an exceptional hospitality venue renowned throughout the country and beyond has decided the time is right to retire.
The Inn incorporates seven en suite bedrooms all with sea views, the main bar and restaurant and in addition, a seasonal food trailer outside. It is being marketed at a price of £1.25 million pounds with the selling agents commenting that an opportunity like this comes to the market once in a generation.
Also on the market for sale is the Eastgate Centre in Inverness, the Highlands’ biggest shopping centre.
The last time the centre changed hands was in 2015 when it was sold for £116 million pounds whereas the current asking price quoted by the selling agents is £18.5 million pounds.
A member of the UK Government’s high streets taskforce commented that the big reduction in price reflects the wider repricing of traditional retail property following the growth of online shopping, changing occupier demand and the loss of large department store anchor tenants such as Debenhams which closed its Eastgate store in early 2021.
According to the selling agents, various alternative uses are being explored for the former Debenhams store, including possible family leisure and entertainment units which would complement the food court and catering providers.
The Highland Council has launched two very different public consultations.
Following its recent decision to seek views of the public, the Council is encouraging all residents, businesses, community groups and visitors to have their say on a proposal for a tiered fixed-rate Visitor Levy in Highland with the consultation now open for a 12-week statutory period.
Separately and for a period of six weeks, the Council is seeking views from users of the A835 and B9163 roads about the current layout of the Conon Bridge and Corntown junctions, how safe people consider the junctions to be and what improvements users would like to see.
