The National Trust of Scotland has announced that the Suspension Bridge at Corrieshalloch Gorge will be closed for 3 days……

The popular suspension bridge over the deep Gorge below, which was built by Sir John Fowler (the architect of the Forth Rail Bridge), is now 152 years old and requires regular inspections. Therefore, the Bridge will be closed to visitors from today to Wed 7th October for its Autumn inspection and servicing. However, The Gateway to Nature facilities at the Gorge will remain open to visitors as usual. 

The first ever Parasports Festival for children and young people took place in Kinlochbervie last week..

Organised by High Life Highlands Active Schools, the Festival involved 58 children from the schools role of 73 within the North West Sutherland Charge Area, including Scourie, Kinlochbervie and Durness. The children from P1-S3 and S6 all took part in a wide range of fully inclusive sporting activities. Children of all ages and needs, supported each other in this inclusive Sport Festival.

Gairloch & Aultbea United won its first trophy since being reformed when it beat Portree six five in the final of the Clan Donald Cup on Saturday. United's goals were scored by man of the match Joel Gilbey who scored three, Ryan Watson with two and Corey Maclennan. The match was played on the astro pitch in Gairloch after it was transferred from Maclennan Park, Aultbea which was waterlogged.

Professionally, Ross County beat Alloa Athletic four one in League One and remains unbeaten at the top of the table above Hamilton Academical by virtue of having a better goal difference.
