Traffic management on the A9 through the Tomatin to Moy project corridor will change tomorrow.

Overnight temporary traffic signals will continue throughout April and in addition there will be lane closures on the existing dual carriageway for approximately 1km at the northern end and 3kms at the southern end coming into effect tomorrow for approximately 15 days.

Work will take place during normal site working hours but the lane closures will remain in place 24 hours each day. Further alterations will take effect later this month including formation of a temporary roundabout at Invereen with appropriate speed restrictions.

All works are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable. The Traffic Scotland website should have live updates which users of the road are encouraged to check before travelling.

The Inverness Castle Experience team has issued an update regarding the display of the Spirit of Highlands and Islands Tapestry which is being worked on by several local groups.

A selection of the tapestry panels is planned to be featured within the North Gallery Tower at the new Inverness Castle Experience, a gallery space which has been custom designed to house 29 of the Tapestry panels. Fit out of the Gallery is proceeding with the next step to install the panels themselves. In the meantime, 11 panels have been on display over the winter in the Historylinks Museum in Dornoch where their exhibition has been warmly received and appreciated by visitors.

Kinlochshiel shinty club which is run solely by volunteers, has come up with a novel way of raising funds.

According to the team manager, the club is always in need of money particularly to purchase new camans and to meet the rising price of fuel.

He then came up with the idea of a sponsored bed push, with a dozen club members pushing a bed from Totaig to Kyle, a distance of 25 miles, taking more than 6 hours. So far the effort has raised around £1,300 with the JustGiving page still open.
