People in the Highlands have been urged to "be very aware” of the increased Wildfire risk in the area…

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the Scottish Wildlife Forum have issued a serious warning for the Highlands, as well as southern and eastern Scotland until Monday. With warm temperatures due to continue, as well as a prolonged dry spell, the risk of Wildfires is paramount. In some parts Scotland (including the Cairngorms currently), wildfires are already burning, with firefighters put under extreme pressure in some areas.

The world record holding MacLean Brothers have undertaken a new challenge which has defeated them twice previously…

In 2025, Ewan, Jamie and Lachlan MacLean completed the fastest recorded time rowing unsupported across the Pacific Ocean in 145 days. In doing so, they raised over £1million for communities in Madagascar. On Wednesday this week, the brothers, based in Nedd, Assynt, began their mission to row from Ullapool to Stornoway in their boat the Rose Emily. The challenge began at The Wee Peir in Ullapool as they handed over an exclusive first proof of their new book to Ullapool Bookshop. They also will deliver a copy to Baltic Books in Stornoway at the end of their row. They successfully arrived in Stornoway at 4.15am on Thursday.

Ross County plays its first home competitive match of the new season tomorrow when it takes on Clyde at the Global Energy Stadium. Inverness Caley Thistle has an away match against Linlithgow Rose. Both games are in the group stage of the Premier Sports Scottish League Cup and kick off at three o'clock tomorrow afternoon.
