Gairloch Primary School pupils have named the new EV rapid chargers in the Coop car park at the invitation of Scottish Power.

The initiative is aimed at involving the community and encouraging young people to consider sustainability and the future of transport.

ELLA TRONIC and VOLT E. MORT are the company’s most northerly chargers and form part of Scottish Power’s own Electric Tourist Trail.

To mark their installation, the chargepoint operator is offering a discounted tariff of 39 pence per kilowatt-hour from now until the end of March 2026, with payment options including the ScottishPower Recharge App and contactless payment.

In the final round of the RadioStar 25 contest, RWR presenter Joshua Taylor narrowly missed out on first place, in one of the closest finishes in the competition’s eight-year history.

Irish presenter Sorcha Morgan secured first place, finishing only ten points ahead of Joshua —Scotland’s sole finalist—while Manchester-based Richie Thomas took third place, trailing by more than three hundred points.

Josh said that he was delighted with his success, in what had been a very challenging contest.

RadioStar is designed to test presenters across a range of broadcast skills, including delivery, format awareness, creativity and consistency, with scores built up over multiple rounds before the final result is decided.

… and in the weekend football …

Ross County ended its run of four losing matches on Saturday when it held league leader, St Johnstone, to a nil-nil draw.

The other teams near the foot of the league, Airdrieonians and Queens Park, also drew their matches so County remains at the bottom of the table, five points behind the others.

In League One, Inverness Caley Thistle was beaten two-one by Montrose, but remains two points clear at the top of the league ahead of Stenhousemuir and Queen of the South, with a game in hand over both.
