Ross County Football Club has announced the appointment of Don Cowie as Head of Professional Programme.
Cowie, who was capped 10 times for Scotland, is a former player of the club and was manager until he was sacked last year.
In his new role he will help to bring young players through the club's academy into the senior set up and will be responsible for the top end of the academy.
Meanwhile, County divided its group of players and played two pre-season friendly matches against Highland League opposition on Saturday, with one squad beating Invergordon seven-nil and the other beating Forres Mechanics five-one.
Young people from across Highland will gather at Eden Court today for a major engagement event supporting the region’s UK City of Culture 2029 bid.
The Children and Young People’s Cultural Assembly will bring together pupils, youth organizations and partners from across Highland to share views on culture, identity and the region’s future.
Through interactive workshops and creative activities, participants will explore what Highland culture means to them and how it could develop.
They will also have the chance to speak with senior leaders, including a question-and-answer session with members of the City of Culture bid team.
Historic Scotland is offering 20% off admission tickets at selected sites across the country as part of its Historic Summer campaign.
The initiative encourages people and families to visit nearby historic attractions and explore participating sites further afield.
The offer covers some of Scotland’s best-known historic sites, including Stirling Castle, once a royal seat for Scottish monarchs, and Fort George, near Ardersier, that has served the British Army for almost 250 years.
The offer is open to UK residents from 26th June to 1st September 2026.
Tickets must be booked online at www.historicsummer.scot.
