Motorists are reminded of temporary restrictions and potential traffic disruption surrounding the Belladrum Festival which starts tomorrow and continues until Saturday.
Temporary traffic regulations remain in force until next Friday 7th August with motorists encouraged to allow extra time for journeys in the area and to consider alternative routes if possible.
Headline acts for the Festival this year include Callum Beattie, The Human League, James, Mika, Razorlight and Scouting for Girls. This year’s theme is party animals which will be the basis of Saturday’s Fancy Dress parade.
Following the success of last year’s initiative, the Belladrum Festival Community Trust will again use money raised from the event’s car parking pass scheme to make grants to local community projects.
Lochbroom and Ullapool Community Trust (LUCT) has announced its June / July round of local funding resourced from surplus income from the Broom Power Hydro scheme and individual donations.
Grants totalling over £12,700 were awarded to 7 community projects (including Radio Wester Ross to upgrade equipment). Further awards will be made later in the year with applications open in October. Meantime, LUCT is inviting applications to join its panel of volunteers whose work to award the funding is greatly appreciated. Applicants must be resident withing the LUCT remit area extending from Elphin in the north to Gruinard in the south.
An Ullapool athlete has qualified for the final of the Men’s Long Jump at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Stephen Mackenzie jumped 7.75 metres to finish in fourth place in a group qualifying session on Monday with six athletes from each group qualifying for the final.
Stephen is already the Scottish record holder having won a gold medal with a jump of 8.15 metres at the British Championships last month. The Commonwealth Games final takes place at Scotstoun Stadium tonight.
