New rights for Highland Council tenants come into effect from the 1st of August.
The changes apply to all Scottish Secure Tenancy tenants and include new measures aimed at supporting victims and survivors of domestic abuse.
The new rules allow social landlords to remove a perpetrator from a tenancy, while helping those affected remain in, or return to, their home where appropriate.
There are also changes to tenancy succession rules, giving people living in a property clearer rights following a tenant’s death.
Tenants will also have a new right to request permission to keep a pet.

A medical support team working on SSEN Transmission’s Western Isles HVDC Link project is also helping emergency services in remote parts of the Highlands.
Spark Medical Ltd, which is supporting workers on the cable project between Dundonnell and Beauly, has joined the GoodSAM initiative, providing additional out-of-hours medical assistance.
The team has already responded to a serious road traffic collision near Dundonnell, helping a badly injured cyclist before ambulance crews arrived.
The company has provided more than 100 hours of community availability and is working with emergency services to strengthen support in remote areas, where response times can be affected by geography and distance.

Both Ross County and Inverness Caley Thistle have away matches this afternoon, with a win for each securing their places in the knockout stages of the Premier Sports Scottish League Cup.
County plays Airdrieonians at the Excelsior Stadium, while Caley Thistle travels to Greenock to play Morton.
