NHS Highland and Highland Council have announced the launch of a new bespoke year-round transport service for renal haemodialysis patients across the region.
Under the new arrangement, a hybrid service will operate, combining in-house delivery with support from community transport providers.
The introduction of the service forms part of the Council's wider future operating model.
This seeks to strengthen partnerships with local organisations and maximise the role of community-based providers in delivering essential services.
The new service operates from 1st October 2026.
The annual Highland Youth Parliament (HYP) conference takes place today at Eden Court, Inverness.
At this year's conference, young people will launch HYP's first-ever official manifesto, "Our Voices, Our Future, Our Highland", developed over the past year through a structured process.
The conference is co-ordinated by Highland Council’s Youth Service and supported by youth partner organisations.
It will also support Inverness-Highland's bid to become UK City of Culture in 2029.
Around 123 young people from across the 29 secondary school areas in Highland are expected to attend.
SSEN Transmission says dynamic line-rating technology has gone live on the electricity network north of Beauly.
It’s the first DLR-enabled circuit in the company’s North of Scotland transmission area.
The technology is designed to help reduce network constraint costs.
These arise when the network can’t carry all the electricity being generated, meaning renewable power, such as wind, sometimes has to be switched off.
SSEN says reducing these costs could ultimately benefit consumers, while investment in the network will help reduce them further and allow more renewable electricity to be transported.
