A naming Ceremony took place in Wester Ross on Saturday to mark the arrival of the largest operating Wellboat in Scotland
Mowi Scotland and specially invited guests including suppliers, marked the occasion with a naming ceremony of the ship ‘Inter Alba’ at the weekend at Ullapool Pier. The new vessel is 93 metres long and is capable of producing 15,000 metres squared of freshwater per day. The vessel was delivered at the end of 2025 after construction in Europe and has already made a major contribution to fish health through service in the Highlands.

To mark the milestone, the RSA has launched their Celebrating Together project to bring together communities across Scotland and beyond. As part of these celebrations An Talla Solais in Ullapool, is delighted to be hosting paintings by RSA Artist George Macpherson, alongside paintings and sound works by Contemporary Ullapool Artist Mairearad Green.
Visitor centres and attractions, operated seasonally by High Life Highland, are set to throw open their doors to visitors again, just in time for the Easter holidays.
The Ferrycroft Visitor Centre in Lairg reopens on the twenty sixth March, meanwhile the North Coast Visitor Centre in Thurso and the Highland Folk Museum in Newtonmore will be welcoming visitors from first April. There is no admission fee to these attractions although donations are encouraged as they help the Council to care for the collections and the continued development of these museums, exhibitions and learning programmes.
