Highlands and Islands MSP Ariane Burgess is calling for a more secure funding system for Gaelic broadcasting.
Her comments follow the launch of a UK Parliament inquiry into the future support of Gaelic television and radio services.
MG Alba, which provides BBC Gaelic programming, receives funding from both the Scottish Government and the BBC, but its budget is agreed one year at a time and has failed to keep pace with inflation.
Ms Burgess says that has reduced the range of programmes being made for Gaelic-speaking communities.
The Scottish Affairs Committee is inviting the public to send evidence of reduced programming by August. 12th.
A new series of tartan weaving workshops is being launched at Inverness Castle, giving visitors the chance to learn more about one of Scotland’s best-known traditions.
The events are being run in partnership with Highland weaving mill Prickly Thistle and will explore the history, symbolism and craftsmanship behind tartan.
Taking place on the 28th of August in the Castle’s North Tower, the sessions will be led by Prickly Thistle founder Clare Campbell, with participants able to create their own woven keepsake.
The workshops are aimed at beginners and will provide an introduction to traditional weaving techniques, with booking required as places are limited.

County has an away game against Airdrieonians while Caley Thistle also plays away at Greenock Morton.
Both games kick off at three o'clock tomorrow afternoon.
