Highland athletes facing significant travel costs are being encouraged to apply for support through the Athlete Travel Award Scheme. 

Delivered by sportscotland and High Life Highland, successful applicants can receive up to 750 pounds towards travel and accommodation, along with free access to High Life facilities to support their training and fitness. 

The scheme is aimed at performance-level athletes living in Highland who face considerable expenses travelling to training and competitions, often outside the region.

Police are seeking to establish when a quad bike was stolen from Laide and Aultbea Community Woodland.

Anyone who was in the main car park on Friday 21st or early Saturday 22nd August is asked get in touch.

The theft is believed to have occurred overnight and was reported at 9am on Saturday.


People across the Highlands will soon be asked how local bus services could be improved.

The council’s Economy and Infrastructure Committee has backed a proposed partnership with HITRANS and local bus operators, followed by a 12-week consultation.

Passengers, communities and other interested groups will be invited to share their views on making services more reliable, accessible and consistent.

The aim is to coordinate improvements across the region.

Ross County maintained its unbeaten record for the season on Saturday when it beat Airdrieonians three-one. 

County moves up to second place in League One just a point behind leader Hamilton Academical with a game in hand.

In the Championship on Friday night, Inverness Caley Thistle scored its first league goal of the season in the last minute of normal time to draw its match with Partick Thistle one each.
