The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has stated that there was a very high risk of wildfire incidents in the west yesterday and has said the risk level will increase to extreme from today until Sunday.
Wildfires are usually sparked by human activity such from the setting of camp fires or dropped cigarettes. The latest warnings come during the current spell of dry and windy weather where there is still older, dead vegetation on hillsides, woodlands and other outdoor spaces. Forecasters have said that with high pressure remaining into next week, and very little rain in the forecast, the risk of wildfire will be ongoing.
