Plans to close a section of the A862 between Dingwall and Ardullie, for three months, is under review.
Scottish Water applied for the closure as part of works to upgrade a water main and a thirteen mile diversion, via the A853 to Tore roundabout then the A9 over the Cromarty Bridge, was proposed.
At a meeting of stakeholders hosted by Kiltearn Community Council, local residents, landowners and businesses expressed concern that the proposal was unworkable.
A motion to request that any works are postponed until the Spring - to allow more detailed assessment of alternative routes – was approved unanimously.
Signage giving advance notice of the closure will be removed.
