Drilling at the Kerry Road volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) deposit could be restarted if a funding agreement can be reached.

Galantas Gold, which holds the exploration and development rights to the deposit, is seeking shareholder approval for a joint venture agreement with Ocean Partners UK.

The agreement involves a shares-for-debt transaction that will strengthen its balance sheet and enable it to benefit from renewed gold production.

If approval is forthcoming, the company is planning to resume activity at the Kerry Road site, which is part of the Gairloch project.

It is one of the oldest known Besshi deposits and, as a gold-bearing VMS deposit, is a major source of zinc, copper, lead, silver and gold.

Highland Council is set to deliver a programme of energy efficiency upgrades in Council housing across the Highlands.

The scheme is being supported by a nine-point-two million-pound funding proposal secured by Union Technical.

The project will include improved insulation to reduce heat loss, the installation of air source heat pumps to replace old storage heaters and solar photovoltaic systems to generate renewable electricity on-site to lower tenant energy costs.

The energy efficiency measures are expected to improve the Energy Performance Certificate ratings of the properties, which will support the Council in meeting statutory targets.

In addition, the Council will continue to deliver the Energy Efficient Scotland: Area Based Scheme which provides support for owner occupiers and private rented tenants.

…. and in football news …..

County has continued its rebuilding for next season in the Championship, by signing two more players, both with experience, one from Sunderland and one from Greenock Morton.

This brings the total of new faces at the club to five so far.

Meanwhile, club chairman, Roy McGregor, has confirmed that there was a collective failure within the club last season, which led to relegation.

Steps have been taken to produce a more experienced environment for this season, particularly with the appointment of John Robertson as assistant manager.
