People across the Highlands are being encouraged to have their say on proposals for a Park and Ride facility serving Inverness
Early feedback from the public consultation highlights the importance of affordable parking and good transport links to the city centre, Raigmore Hospital, the airport and bus and rail stations.
Respondents have also suggested a range of possible locations, including south of Inverness, Longman, the Kessock Bridge and north of the city.
The consultation remains open until midnight on 31st July, with anyone interested invited to share their views.
SSEN Transmission has relocated a proposed temporary construction compound near Contin following feedback from the local community.
The Kinellan compound, which will support construction of the underground cable section of the Western Isles HVDC Link, has been moved around 500 metres south-east of the original site, increasing its distance from Loch Kinellan and nearby breeding bird habitats.
Preparatory work will begin on Monday 27th July, ahead of construction starting on 3rd August, with the works expected to last around 12 weeks.
Traffic access will be maintained throughout, with no disruption expected for residents, pedestrians or road users.
Two orphaned hedgehog hoglets from Lewis are recovering after a special journey to receive expert care on the mainland.
The siblings were found in a poor condition beside their dead mother and were taken aboard CalMac’s Stornoway to Ullapool ferry service to reach Highland Wildlife Rescue in Brora.
The hoglets are now being cared for by wildlife specialists, where they are being rehydrated and hand-fed.
They were joined on the crossing by another young hedgehog and an injured rock dove, both also needing rehabilitation.
