Road users on the A9 have been warned to expect delays at two locations starting on Monday. Temporary traffic signals will be in place overnight through the single carriageway section between Tomatin and Moy each night except Saturdays for approximately two weeks between 7.30 pm and 6.00 am starting on Monday while tree clearance and construction of site accesses take place. A temporary speed restriction of 30mph will also be implemented during the overnight works.

Further south, temporary traffic signals will also be in place through the single carriageway section between the Tay Crossing and Ballinluig for four days between 9.30 am and 4.00 pm also starting on Monday while ground investigation work is carried out. The location of the traffic signals will vary over the period of the work.

NHS Highland is reported to have confirmed its intention to reopen Strathburn House care home in Gairloch in the Spring but has not stated a specific date.

A spokesperson is quoted as saying that the new manager of the facility is in post and a deputy manager, activities organiser and social care assistant have all been appointed. The spokesperson continued to say that appropriate safety checks have been carried out and they continue to recruit staff to allow the home safely to be reopened soon.

Property consulting services firm Savills has been appointed by Highland Council to produce a feasibility study and business case for the commercial use of Inverness Town House which was previously used by the Council but was vacated to save an estimated £370,000 annually.

The core principles behind the feasibility study are that the Town House retains a basic function as a civic building, how it might align with the Inverness Castle Experience with any changes or renovations respectful of the building’s status, and a sustainable model to make the property cost at least neutral.

Both Ross County and Inverness Caley Thistle are in action this afternoon. County has a home game against Dundee while Caley Thistle plays away against Kelty Hearts.

County needs to win or draw its match to stay above Dundee in the Premiership while Caley Thistle will be hoping not to lose more ground to the teams above it in League One.

Both games kick off at three o’clock this afternoon.
