The opening of the Inverness Castle Experience - the new £30m tourist attraction has been delayed until later this year.

Work to redevelop the former sheriff court and prison started in 2022 and was expected to be completed this summer.

However, while the main construction phase is nearing completion, the fit-out of specific elements – originally planned to overlap – will now take place after construction finishes.

The new timeline incorporates adequate time for staff training and final commissioning of the building ahead of welcoming visitors.

Wills Bros Civil Engineering Ltd  is set to be appointed to deliver the fourth section of the A9 Dualling Programme.

The award of this £152.7 million contract, to dual the A9 between the Tay Crossing and Ballinluig, marks the achievement of another delivery milestone for the Programme.

It is anticipated that the new dual carriageway will be operational by the end of 2028, at which point 45% of the A9 between Perth and Inverness will be dualled.

The contract will also deliver a new side road network, to improve access for the local communities, and enhanced travel routes and local path networks, to improve access to and from the Highlands.

Ross County FC has announced the return of former player Jamie Lindsay on a two-year contract.

Mid-fielder Lindsay played for the club between 2017 and 2019 and was instrumental in their success in the 2018/19 championship.

He moved down south to Rotherham United in 2019, followed by a spell with Bristol Rovers.

Lindsay is County’s second signing this week following Nicky Clark, who joined the club on a 1-year deal on Thursday.
