The Feis Rois Ceilidh Trail will return to several venues around the Region.
Frequently seen as a big stepping stone for young traditional musicians, the trail presents a unique opportunity for them to further their careers through live performances, which this year include Gairloch, Ullapool, Dingwall, Strathpeffer and the Belladrum Festival at the end of the month.
Gairloch Museum has now received the full amount of grants required to allow their ambitious project to start…
The £280,000 fund will now allow work to begin on the construction of a replica Iron Age roundhouse in their outdoor Museum area in Gairloch. Final funding has now been received from Historic Environment Scotland and the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The replica will showcase many types of traditional construction as well as providing a unique insight into how life was in Wester Ross over 2000 years ago.
The Kings Baton Commonwealth Games Relay came to the Minch this week…
A surprise handover took place between the Stornoway Coastguard Helicopter, and Uist born Commonwealth cyclist Kerry MacPhee who was travelling on the CalMac Loch Seaforth Ferry. Showing the skills of the Coastguard, the baton was successfully winched on board the helicopter from the Loch Seaforth, continuing the relay.

Both Ross County and Inverness Caley Thistle have matches this afternoon in the Premier Sports Scottish League Cup. County has its first home game of the season when it plays Clyde while Caley Thistle travels to play Linlithgow Rose. The games kick off at three o'clock this afternoon.
