Highland Council has opened nominations for their annual Staff Recognition Awards…
The Annual awards allow the nomination of members of staff who have shown excellence, dedication and who have made a positive difference to members of the Community every day. In 2026, various categories will be open for staff nominations from members of the public, from community groups and other associated organisations. The categories are: working in partnership, Strengthening communities, going the extra mile and unlocking potential. The deadline for nominations is 2nd October.
Scottish Opera are taking music on a nationwide tour in the Highlands this Autumn….
Their enchanting tale of ‘Hansel and Gretel,’ by Humperdinck, in a shortened form, will be performed and staged by 5 professional Opera Singers and a Piano. This will be on tour throughout October and November in a total of 34 locations. The staged production of ‘Hansel and Gretel’ is taking place in Ullapool at the Macphail Theatre on November 3rd and there will be subsequent performances in Portree, Beauly and Lossiemouth locally.
The programme has been announced for the forthcoming Highland Archaeological Conference 2026….
Taking place over two days on 10th and 11 October, the Conference will be held in the Highland Council’s Chamber for the first time. It will also offer the option of attending in person or online. Topics to be covered include finding out about recent archaeological discoveries, heritage projects and other research connected to the Highlands. Tickets can be booked either in person, or online through ticket portal Eventbrite.
