Inspectors have issued a highly positive report on the Gaelic medium nursery at Plockton Primary School, following a recent visit.

During the unannounced inspection, the Care Inspectorate found the children experiencing “warm, consistent and responsive care that fostered their growth, development and wellbeing.”

Inspectors graded the setting as ‘good’ across all areas, including for leadership, staff skills and the children’s play, learning and development. They noted that Gaelic was spoken consistently throughout the day, which supported the children to become familiar with the language. The report states that children responded positively to interactions with staff demonstrating engagement and understanding and children also benefitting from a caring ethos and being led with kindness and respect.

Six fully serviced housing plots in Strathcarron, each with full planning consent, have been placed on the market for sale giving what the developers have described as a much clearer and more predictable route from purchase to completion.

The plots range from a quarter of an acre in size with asking prices from £125,000 and are within land owned and managed by the Attadale Trust.
Also available are six two and three-bedroom homes for the Communities Housing Trust, intended for local people living and working in the area.

The owners of the former Ironworks venue in Inverness have been given a three year extension of the time to start work on the development of a hotel on the site.

Planning permission for a 155 bedroom hotel was granted before the venue closed in February 2023 with work to start within three years, but that hasn’t happened and the permission would have lapsed.

Developer, Upland Properties Limited based in Aviemore, now has until 2028 to start the project with the existing building to be demolished.
