Local pipers are reviving a tradition this Sunday, with a procession to the memorial of Iain Dall, the Blind Piper of Gairloch.

The Wednesday Pipers are inviting anyone interested to join them for the walk from Flowerdale car park to the monument, about a mile away.

The procession begins at half past one, with light refreshments before the return journey.

Iain Dall MacKay lived from 1656 to 1754 and became renowned for his piping and poetry, despite losing his sight as a child.

Organisers hope the event will help preserve his legacy for future generations.

Nearly three-quarters of people surveyed in Scotland support the country’s opt-out system for organ and tissue donation, according to a new report from Healthcare Improvement Scotland.

The report gathered views from 646 people, with most respondents aware that people are presumed willing to donate unless they have opted out or are in an excluded group.

However, the findings suggest more work is needed to help people understand how to register their decision.

The report also recommends raising awareness and encouraging people to discuss their wishes with family and friends.

Motorists are being warned of possible traffic delays in Inverness city centre next month, when roadworks are planned at one of the city’s busiest junctions.

Highland Council says Openreach will be installing new cable ducts at the junction of Bridge Street, Bank Street, Castle Road and Ness Bridge, from the sixteenth to the twentieth of November.

Extensive traffic management is expected during the five days of work, and drivers are advised to use alternative routes where possible.

The junction carries more than twenty-nine thousand traffic movements during a typical twelve-hour period, underlining the potential for disruption.
