Ullapool art gallery, An Talla Solais, has opened a new exhibition focusing on paintings by two local artists.

From Gairloch, Daniel Murray is a former student of Ullapool’s Bridgehouse Art Portfolio course.

Dan mainly works in acrylics on board in the field of portraiture

In contrast, the work of Mary-Kate Thompson from Ullapool finds its voice in figurative oil paintings of the human form, in an attempt to see the body at its most physical and fundamental.

The exhibition runs until June 22nd.

The Highland Council have appointed an independent consultancy to undertake a baseline census and distribution study of gulls in the centre of Inverness.

The survey has been designed to coincide with the start of the nesting period, when gull numbers will be reaching their peak and birds are at their most active.

Councillor Ian Brown said that although Highland Council has no statutory duty to take action against any type of gull, the findings from this study will provide evidence and inform any future development of a Gull Management Plan for the City of Inverness.
