Network Rail Scotland has announced a further programme of work to be carried out in and around Inverness station and on the Kyle line which will result in no trains running between Dingwall and Kyle of Lochalsh for three weeks between Saturday 28th November and Saturday 19th December.
Track renewal is planned around Achanalt and Rosebank near Achnasheen, and between Strathcarron and Stromeferry with bus replacement services being put in place. The work which will cost a total of £9 million pounds, follows a similar renewal programme carried out last year between Achnashellach and Strathcarron.
Following the recent death of Radio Wester Ross presenter and director Gail Bellamy, a Service of Remembrance will be held in Aultbea Free Church next Saturday 19th September at 11am when all will be welcome. During the recent period for nominations for the election of various community councils in Highland Council’s area, the total number of potential candidates for Garve and District Community Council was less than the minimum required, so Garve and District Community Council will cease to exist and will not be reformed at present.
Local amateur football team, Gairloch and Aultbea United was scheduled to play a home match this afternoon at Maclennan Park Aultbea for the first time in eight years. The game was to be in the Clan Donald Cup against Portree but has been postponed to a later date due to the lack of availability of a referee.
Professionally, both Ross County and Inverness Caley Thistle have matches at three o’clock this afternoon. County is at home to Premiership side Hibernian in the quarter finals of the Premier Sports Scottish League Cup with the match being televised live on Premier Sports. Caley Thistle has an away game in the Championship against Ayr United.
