The University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) has once again been recognised as one of Scotland's highest-performing universities for student satisfaction in the 2026 National Student Survey achieving an overall satisfaction score of 85% and ranking 5th among the 18 Scottish universities included in the ranking.

UHI's results remain well above the Scottish sector average of 82%, reinforcing the university's reputation for delivering a high-quality student experience across its partnership. Conducted annually the survey gathers feedback from final-year undergraduate students across the UK. This year's results demonstrate the consistency of UHI's performance, with the university exceeding or significantly exceeding its benchmarks across every question set and improving results in all but two survey themes.


The most northerly Wimpy restaurant in the UK, one of only three left in Scotland, has been put on the market for sale at an asking price of £159,000. 

The restaurant with 56 seats and a take away facility has been trading in Dingwall High Street for over 30 years and is said by the selling agents to be a genuine local institution with a loyal multi-generational customer base, strong community presence and growing destination appeal. Annual turnover is quoted as £260,000. The other remaining Wimpey restaurants in Scotland are in Fraserburgh and Kilmarnock.


The domestic football season in Scotland is scheduled to start tomorrow with matches  in the Premier Sports Scottish League Cup.

Ross County plays in Group D with fixtures against Annan Athletic, Clyde, Dundee and Airdrieonians while Inverness Caley Thistle, newly promoted to the Championship, plays in Group F against Greenock Morton, Linlithgow Rose, East Fife and St Johnstone.

County plays away tomorrow against Annan Athletic while Caley Thistle has a home game against East Fife with both matches starting at three o’clock.
