The area of approx 12,602 Acres stretches from Loch Torridon to the summits of Beinn Alligin and Liathach and will share a boundary with the Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve.
Commonwealth Bronze medal winning Athlete Stephen Mackenzie is now in training for the forthcoming European Championships.
Stephen, from Ullapool, and who was the first Scottish Athlete to win a medal at the Long Jump in the recent Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, has also been selected to take part in the European Championships. These start on 10th August in Birmingham (where Stephen also broke the British National Record with a qualifying jump there for the Commonwealth Games) and runs until 16th August.
A Partial Solar Eclipse will take place on Wednesday 12th August.
The unusual solar phenomenon will start approximately around 7pm when the Moon will cover approximately 91% of the sun’s disc. The best views, if the skies are clear, will be towards the west with horizon views. However, care must be taken and either special eclipse viewing glasses should be used, or via a Telescope, as the views can be extrememely damaging to the naked eye.
