Notice has been given of road closures which are scheduled to happen in the Torridon region next month….

Culvert replacement works are to take place on the road from Kinlochewe along Torridon Glen from 9th-12th November, with road closures taking place during the day from 9.30am to 4pm daily. However, although advance warning is already given, the exact details will be confirmed nearer the start date in November. 

A new National Campaign has been launched to share the enjoyment of Reading…

Called ‘Wee Read Scotland’ and organised by the Scottish Library and Information Council, High Life Highland is encouraging everyone to take the time to stop and read either together or individually. The Campaign is aiming to bring people together to support and to encourage the pure joy of reading. It’s hoped that through the use of libraries, book-groups, bookshops and individuals, the power of reading will shine through. 

A mountain Rescue team was called out 4 times within one day last weekend. 

Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team had 4 incidents, including a mountain biker, 2 hillwakers who were climbing without suitable equipment and a missing person request. This takes their callouts to over 200 this year. 

Brand new programmes for children in Gaelic are soon going to be available on BBC Alba….

New animation programmes including: SpongeBob Square pants, Bluey and Peppa Pig will all feature in the new line up for the Autumn season onwards on the channel. It is hoped that these favourites for children will give younger audiences the change to enjoy already familiar characters but translated into Gaelic for the first time.
