Community Councils involved in the Western Isles HVDC cable project have reported progress in securing engagement with SSEN after a period of limited contact.
Previous attempts to establish structured discussions over the past year were unsuccessful, despite support from The Highland Council’s Social Values Charter Team.
SSEN has now announced plans to set up a Community Liaison Group to provide project updates and gather feedback from local communities.
The first meeting will be held on the 12th August and will initially involve Community Councils.
Wider community representation is expected at a later stage as the project develops.
ScotRail has introduced a minimum £10 fare for passengers caught travelling without a valid ticket, in a bid to clamp down on fare dodging.
The rail operator says the charge will exceed standard fares on most shorter journeys and reduce discounted travel on longer routes.
It hopes the policy will discourage anti-social behaviour and allow more money to be reinvested in services.
Passengers are being urged to buy tickets before boarding.
Digital tickets must be downloaded and activated in advance.
Ticket offices and platform kiosks remain open, and tickets can also be bought by phone on 0344 811 0141.
…and in the football …
With just one week to go before the start of the competitive football season, Ross County and Inverness Caledonian Thistle play each other in a pre-season friendly match today.
The match had been scheduled to take place at the Sarens PSG Stadium, Caley Thistle's ground, but due to ongoing work there, it has been relocated to Grant Street Park, the home of Clachnacuddin FC.
Kick-off is at one o'clock, not two o'clock as previously planned.
