Clothing repair workshops have been announced which will take place at High Life Highland Libraries this Autumn…
These will be lead by the so called ‘Highland Clothing Doctor’, award winning seamstress Sarah James-Gaukroger, at selected Libraries. Participants will have the chance to learn practical mending techniques and discover creative ways to repair old or damaged garments. Sessions are planned for Dingwall, Culloden, Fort William and Ullapool libraries throughout September and October.
The Ullapool Angling Competition was held this weekend gone when a special Cup was awarded for the first time ever…
The RJ MacLeod Cup which was donated especially for the catch of either Tuna or Skate, and was awarded to Iain Boyd of Ullapool, on board the vessel Bourdon. Iain landed a 171 pound Skate, which was weighed, photographed and then successfully returned to the sea. Over 40 boats took part in the Competition, with 147 Anglers, 19 of whom were under the age of 18 and 12 who were under the age of 12. 28 children took part in fishing sessions being held on the pier itself.
Bear Scotland is calling for nominations for names for their winter gritting lorries….
They are inviting members of the public of all ages to suggest witty, or perhaps gritty names for their winter fleet of vehicles. The fleet covers trunk roads in the North West and South East and the winning entries will be displayed on the gritters themselves as they help keep our roads clear.
The competition is open from now until 11th September and entries can be made on the Bear Scotland website.
