Community consultations will take place this week in relation to the proposed partial closure of the A832 road near Dundonnell. As previously reported, SSEN Transmission had originally intended a full road closure to allow work to proceed on the connection of the subsea electricity cable from the Western Isles to the national grid.
The current proposal is for single lane closures to take place between Dundonnell and Fain Bridge for up to 18 months. The public consultation events are scheduled to take place in Aultbea Hall this Wednesday, 7th January, and then at Badcaul Church on Thursday evening, 8th January, both from 6 to 8 pm. Work on the project is scheduled to begin on 19th January.

Loganair’s website adds that unless the flight is cancelled, no refund will be offered but it has standby aircraft and crews in place to recover disrupted services as soon as weather permits.
Lochbroom Football Club has for several years commemorated two former club members with a charity match and has now extended its remembrance to include a further three members who have passed.
The new trophy is the Lochbroom FC Memorial Shield which was won for its first occasion by a team of Under 30 age players which beat a team of Over 30s five four. An estimated crowd of around 200 watched the game which with match and player sponsorship along with fundraising on the day, raised £2,300 which will be divided among Epilespsy Scotland, Abbie’s Sparkle Foundation and the junior section of Lochbroom FC to keep football available for local youngsters.
Organisers of the match thanked everyone involved for their generous donations and support.
Both Ross County and Inverness Caley Thistle’s matches on Saturday were postponed on account of snow and frost. With other matches being played, County remains at the foot of the Championship table five points behind Queens Park with the same number of games played, while Caley Thistle drops back to second place in League One, a point behind Stenhousemuir but with two games in hand.
