Repair work on the A835 road at what is known as Check Rail Corner near Garve is scheduled to begin today, more than two years after a retaining wall was damaged following a collision.

The initial work involves clearance of vegetation with ground excavation and diversion of cables with the actual repairs due to start in April and expected to be completed by November.

A spokesperson for Bear Scotland, responsible for the work which is replacing the retaining wall, said the project is particularly complex given the need to keep the road and railway line open. Temporary traffic lights will continue to operate as the work progresses.
