This week is Highland Business Week starting today and culminating in the Highlands Business Awards lunch in the Kingsmills Hotel in Inverness on Friday.

Various events are planned throughout the week including the Highland Spotlight Business to Business Exhibition tomorrow at which over 40 Highland businesses will be represented and which will give participants the time and space to meet in a collaborative setting to forge connections with contacts across the region and to learn more about products and services which are available.

Other events focus on discovering how AI is transforming marketing, financial wellbeing, and the use of technology to drive change, with the week intended by the oprganisers to provide inspiration and practical insights in equal measure.

Organisers of this year’s Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival have announced that more than £100,000 was raised in donations and festival support towards charities and community groups in the area.

This year’s official charity partner was Highland Action for Little Ones (HALO) which helps Highland communities affected by the cost of living crisis and children living in poverty. Other groups to benefit included Mikeysline, Highland Hospice and Kiltarlity Village Hall. Tickets were also donated to various charities, schools and individuals allowing them to raise funds through raffles and other activities. Any charity interested in applying for a free stall at next year’s festival is encouraged to watch for applications going live in November.

Last weekend’s Bridge to Bridge Highland Cycle from the Skye Bridge to the Kessock Bridge in which more than 200 cyclists completed the 77 mile course, has raised more than £80,000 for HALO, Day 1 Training and Mentoring, This is Me Highland and the Leanne Fund.

In the weekend football Ross County was level at one each in its match on Saturday against Queens Park when captain Declan Galllacher was sent off for denying a goal scoring opportunity with half an hour to go.

County conceded the winning goal shortly afterwards to lose the game two one with the result leaving County at the bottom of the Championship table.

In League One, Inverness Caley Thistle beat Queen of the South two nil and remains in second place one point behind leader Stenhousemuir.
