NHS Highland has announced that Jennifer Davies is to be their new Director for Public Health. 

She joined the Health Board as Deputy Director in February with over 25 years’ experience of working in public health across Wales and the southeast of England.

Jennifer said she was inspired to move to the Highlands because of the Board’s commitment and vision for addressing health inequalities.

She succeeds Dr Tim Allison, who retires from the role in June this year.


The search is on for vocal talent to compete in Ness Factor 2025.

The fundraiser for Highland Hospice offers amateur singers professional vocal coaching lessons and the opportunity to hone their stage-craft.

All they ask in return is that participants commit to raising funds for the Hospice.

The final takes place at the Drumossie Hotel in Inverness in November, with the winning act performing live at the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival in July 2026.

Applications must be made to Ness Factor 2025 by Sunday June 1st.


Cuach na Cloinne 2025 the biggest sports competition for Gaelic Medium Primary Schools across Scotland, kicks off tomorrow.

The 5-a-side football competition is aimed at youngsters in P4 -7. 

Councillor Calum Munro said that it was important for young Gaelic speakers to use the language within sports activities as this will enhance their language acquisition skills in conjunction with their health and well-being.

The regional heats run until 8th May with the final on Wednesday 4th June at Canal Park, Inverness.

In League One, Inverness Caley Thistle conceded an own goal in added time and drew its match against Stenhousemuir one each. 

The result leaves Caley Thistle one point above the relegation play-off place and three points behind the two teams ahead of it in the league with just two matches left to play.

There were no Premiership fixtures this weekend, so Ross County didn't have a match.
