Communities in the Highlands are being warned of a scam which led to the theft of ten thousand pounds from an Inverness resident.
The scam involves a fraudulent phone call, claiming to be from the victim’s bank or financial institution, advising of activity on their account. The person is then asked to visit their bank, withdraw money and pass it to a courier, who will ask for a password. They are told this is part of an inquiry into bank staff.
Police Scotland are urging residents to raise awareness by sharing this information. Anyone who thinks they may have fallen victim to this scam is asked to contact 101.
