Highland Council is testing a new resource designed to help community groups plan and deliver local projects that align with Area Place Plans.

BeConnected is an interactive online map which provides an overview of activities taking place throughout Highland.

The resource enables more effective allocation of support to areas of greatest need, and ensures that funders have a comprehensive understanding of grassroots initiatives across the region

Community groups are encouraged to explore the map, familiarize themselves with their Area Place Plan, and add their projects to ensure they are visible to funders and potential partners.

Further information can be obtained from BeConnected@highland.gov.uk.

Christmas represents one of the peak periods for both households and businesses, resulting in a notable increase in waste production.

Residents across the region are being urged to implement straightforward measures to reduce waste and recycle effectively throughout the festive season.

The twin-bin re-cycling system, which is now fully operational throughout the area, allows paper, cardboard, food containers and designated plastics to be recycled at home.  Real Christmas trees can be taken to the local recycling centre for composting.

In addition, there is a new facility at the Inverness Recycling Centre which accepts working electrical and electronic items for reuse.

Changes to bin collection dates and service arrangements over the season can be found on the Highland Council website.

And in the weekend football ….

Ross County, with John Robertson leading first team affairs on an interim basis again after the departure this week of manager Tony Docherty and his assistant Callum Davidson, will be hoping to put last weekend's six-goal defeat behind it when it plays Arbroath at home tomorrow.

Arbroath is currently third in the League while County remains the bottom club.

In League One Inverness Caley Thistle travels to play Stenhousemuir, which is six points behind Caley Thistle having played a game more.

Both matches kick off at three o'clock tomorrow afternoon.
