The Highland Council has successfully secured funding from Transport Scotland to support plans to make it easier for people to walk, wheel and cycle for everyday journeys.

In addition to projects to facilitate pedestrianization in the region, Transport Scotland will be releasing designs for improved non-motorized user transport provision at the Raigmore Interchange in Inverness.

The scheme will include full signalization of the Interchange, providing controlled pedestrian crossings, making it safer and more convenient for those on foot, cyclists, and wheelchair users.

Transport Scotland have advised that temporary traffic control measures will be in place at Invereen roundabout on the A9 until 24th May.

In addition, on Thursday 22nd May for two nights, temporary traffic signals will be in place between 7.30pm and 6am with single-lane-running through the area.

On Friday 23rd May, for one day, there will be temporary changes made to the traffic layout at the location with both lanes continuing to run as normal.

Road users are advised to approach the area with care and allow extra time for their journeys.

Psalms and hymns of the Gaelic-speaking Hebrides will make a rare appearance at the British Academy in London on Thursday 22nd May.

Ethnomusicologist Dr Frances Wilkins, from the University of Aberdeen, will provide an overview of the little-researched sacred song repertoires in Hebridean communities.

Kristine Kennedy from Lewis, one of Scotland’s finest Gaelic singers, will perform some of the most iconic songs from the tradition.

The event will be live-streamed.

And in the weekend football ….

Ross County needs to win its last match of the season tomorrow at home against Motherwell and hope that Dundee loses to St Johnstone in order to stay in the Premiership next season.

Any other realistic combination of results will require County to win a play-off over two matches to remain in the top league.
