The police are appealing for information following last Thursday afternoon’s fatal road accident involving a motorcycle and a camper van on the A832 north of Poolewe.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and traffic police are now asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who may have dash cam footage and who has not yet spoken to the police to contact them as soon as possible by calling 101 quoting incident number 2021 of September 11, 2025.

The Scottish Crofting Federation is calling for the culling of deer by an authorized person to be allowed on unimproved land including moorland of common grazings.

This aligns with a proposal previously made by the Deer Working Group which suggested that statutory rights of occupiers to prevent damage by wild deer should apply to the occupiers of any type of land and cover public interests of a social, economic and environmental nature.
The proposal is supported by the Scottish Tenant Farmers Association, the Landworkers Alliance and several other farming organisations. The SCF says it would be enormously helpful if the right to kill deer was extended to moorland areas of common grazing.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle football club is no longer in administration after agreements were reached with its creditors.
Businessman Alan Savage has now taken over 100% control of the club and has suggested extra revenue could be generated through hosting music events and building a petrol station on ground adjacent to the stadium over which the club now has control. Mr Savage says he will try to drive the football club forward in a sensible, pragmatic, common sense way and he wants to raise its status in the community to where he says it should be.

Meanwhile on Saturday, Caley Thistle beat Cove Rangers one nil and moves up to second place in League One, level on points with two other teams but with a better goal difference.

In the Championship, Ross County drew one each with Ayr United and remains in second bottom place, one point ahead of Airdrieonians which has played a game fewer.
