Highland Council is still no further forward in making a firm decision on whether to implement a visitor levy.
Businesses across the area have voiced misgivings about the so called tourist tax and the impact it could have in damaging the competitiveness and sustainability of tourism and hospitality in the Highlands.
Whilst the council acknowledges that the primary purpose of any levy should be to support and develop the visitor economy and infrastructure, significant disquiet remains over the administrative burden of collection being placed on accommodation providers, as well as the need for clear exemptions for those staying for business or hospital appointments.
SSEN have confirmed two public consultation meetings for later this month in the wake of feedback to proposed roadworks that would lead to the closure of the A832 at Dundonnell for a substantial period of time.
The sessions will take place on Monday 27 October, between 6–8pm at the Aultbea Hall as well as on Tuesday 28 October, from 6–8pm at Badcaul Church.

The events will provide an opportunity to meet the project team, hear more about the revised proposals, and share any further views or concerns. SSEN also have confirmed that no works will take place until January 2026 at the earliest.
Highlands and Islands Scottish Green MSP Ariane Burgess has launched a scathing attack on the Scottish Government’s decision to delay the implementation of muirburn licensing provisions until Autumn 2026.
Accusing Ministers of putting the interests of wealthy landowners ahead of environmental protection and public safety, Ms. Burgess has said that there is little in the way of credible evidence to support claims that muirburn helps prevent wildfires.
The MSP also accused ministers of failing to properly fund the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, which she says is being pushed to breaking point.

Inverness Caley Thistle also travelled in the league stage of the Challenge Cup, now known as the KDM Evolution Trophy. They finished comfortable winners with a 4-1 victory over Forfar Athletic.
