The New investment Fund called The Life Sciences Accommodation Programme has been unveiled to help attract and retain life science Companies in Scotland. The fund administered by Scottish Enterprise, which will launch later this year, is expected to focus on improving the availability of affordable premises for businesses in this sector, to allow them to commercialise and expand.
The Scottish Crofting Federation has welcomed government announcements on rural support and housing mentioned in the recent Agricultural Budget.
However, they have raised concerns for greater controls on wild geese in the Western Isles. Thousands of graylag geese feed on the coastal meadows, which are also used for growing crops and grazing livestock. The Scottish Crofting Federation has called for additional funding for culls, so crofters and birds could live in balance.

Each of the fiction titles on the list explores the way Highland history affects the lives of those who are born or live in the area. The longlist also includes Poetry and non-fiction titles, bringing the total to 12 books. This annual award celebrates literature that comes from the rich landscape and culture of the Scottish Highlands and Islands. The shortlist will be announced in May, with the winner announced in June.
