SSEN has moved to Weather Warning Status for the Highlands and Moray ahead of lightning forecast for today and tomorrow.

Following several days of monitoring the weather system, the company have advised that the network may be impacted and they are preparing for the likelihood of disruption.

Lightning can affect the network in a number of ways and customers are asked to call 105 or contact via the PowerTrack website if the power remains off for any length of time.

Extra call handlers and control teams are being brought in and additional engineering teams will be on standby.  Attempts will be made to telephone the most vulnerable in areas most likely to be affected.

New trustees from the Highlands are sought to help shape the future of the Archie Foundation which supports babies, children and families at the  Children’s Unit at Raigmore Hospital.

The charity is particularly keen to attract volunteers with professional experience in IT and digital innovation, legal services, marketing and communications, and from the medical and nursing professions.

A spokesperson for the Foundation said that becoming a charity trustee offers an opportunity to contribute to a worthwhile cause, make a tangible difference in the community, and develop new skills.
