An Ullapool photographer has been announced as the winner of the prestigious Scottish Nature Video Award for 2025.

James Appleton, scooped the award for his short film, ‘Stac Polly’ wildfire. The film was the result of two days documenting the human made fire that consumed the slopes of the popular Wester Ross mountain in early spring 2025.

The stunning landscape, which was totally blackened after the fire, has already begun to regenerate and rebound with new life.

Overnight traffic management on the A9 has been announced between Pitlochry to Killiecrankie.

Temporary traffic management and speed restrictions will be in operation on the A9 whilst improvements are made to the existing Faskally Forest access located north of Pitlochry. Road users are advised that temporary traffic signals will be in operation each evening from 19:00 tonight and end the following morning at 07:00. The temporary traffic signals will cease on Friday 24th April at 07:00.

And in football news:

Following Friday night’s match in which Ross County was beaten one nil by Queens Park, other results at the weekend leave County bottom of the Championship two points behind the team above and eight points behind the next team above with just three games left to play.

In League One on Saturday, Inverness Caley Thistle drew one each with Stenhousemuir so remains two points behind at the top of the table but still with a game in hand which it will play tomorrow.
