Luggerfest 2026 is to return to Ullapool this May….

The inaugural Ullapool Lugger Fest was launched 2 years ago, a  unique festival for boat enthusiasts and visitors alike. Lugger Fest will take place in Ullapool from May 22 to 24, where local and visiting traditional boats returning to the harbour, will celebrate, sail and race together. On land there will be music, food, talks, demonstrations, dancing and maritime activities. There will also be a parade of sail, and a chance for visitors to get afloat too.

An underwater camera left in Loch Ness for more than 50 years by Nessie hunters has been restored to working order by a TV programme.

The camera was recovered from the depths of Loch Ness by a robot submarine - called Boaty McBoatface - while being put through tests in the loch last year. It has now been restored to working order by a TV programme and although no footage of Nessie was found, a few images have been developed from the loch’s dark waters.

The Inverness Castle Experience was officially opened yesterday by Kate Forbes, Deputy First Minister of Scotland…..

The £47 million investment has transformed Inverness Castle into a world class visitor attraction for the Highlands. It is expected to attract around 450,000 visitors each year, including 200,000 to the paid attraction, with the remainder visiting the bistro, shop and gardens.

The Inverness Castle Experience brings Highland culture to life through creative design and immersive storytelling, alongside panoramic views of the city and its river, exhibitions, gardens, café, shop and bar.
