Highland Council on behalf of the Constituency and Regional Returning Officer is encouraging people to make sure their vote counts in the Scottish Parliament Election tomorrow.

Polling Stations are open from 7am until 10pm. There is no need to take identification or a polling letter although voters are asked to check the letter to make sure they are going to the right place given that some polling places have changed since the last election.

Voters will be given two ballot papers, first, a lilac coloured one to elect the constituency MSP and second, a peach coloured paper to elect 7 additional members from the Highlands and Islands Regional List. Various assistive aids will be available for anyone who needs them and the polling stations are all accessible for disabled voters.

The counting of both ballot papers will take place at Inverness Leisure on Friday starting at 9am and will continuing until the 3 Highland Constituency results are declared as well as the Highlands and Islands Regional List.

Highlands and Islands Airports Limited (HIAL), the operator of Inverness Airport, has issued a statement about the current causes of some delays to flights.

It says it is currently experiencing staffing issues which means that some closures of air traffic services at Inverness Airport are being scheduled over the coming weeks.

HIAL says it is trying to plan such closures around the flight schedule to limit any impact on passengers but this may not always be possible and some flights may be affected. HIAL has apologised for the inconvenience this will cause and says passengers should contact their airline directly for the latest information on their flight.

Wester Ross mountain rescue teams have been busy recently.

The Torridon team was called out last Wednesday evening to help a cragfast walker at the west end of Liathach. Well equipped and uninjured, the individual was able to walk off assisted by the call out party and returned to his camp base.

The Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team had three call outs at the weekend, one to the Fisherfield at 1.30am on Saturday, one on Saturday afternoon to the Gruinard area and one on Sunday morning to the Sheneval area. All the missions were successful with no injured parties.
