Every year, 12 special books are published, and every child in Primary School receives a Voucher worth £1, which allows them to choose a free book from participating Bookshops. Popular Authors this year include, Roald Dahl, Hannah Gold and the Bunny vs Monkey series.
Many schools throughout Wester Ross are either celebrating their own World Book Day event, or visiting their local bookshop to choose their books.
Scottish Greens Highlands and Islands MSP, Ariane Burgess, has welcomed the Scottish Government's rail fares freeze but says cheaper tickets alone will not fix what is broken on the Highland Main Line.
The Highlands and Islands MSP has indicated that keeping fares frozen is a positive step, but also pointed out that if the trains remain unreliable, overcrowded or too slow, passengers won't return. Affordable fares and a modern railway has to go hand in hand, as much of the Highland Main Line remains single track and diesel-operated.

Taking place on Tuesday 10th March, Chris Puddlephat and Author Mandy Haggith, will present an evening about the search for remote and resilient wych elm trees. They both are leading a project to document, conserve and restore elms in the far North West of the Region, one of the last areas of healthy wych elm trees in the UK.
