Gaelic medium pupils in S2 and S3 from six schools, including Ullapool and Dingwall, took part in ‘Go On!’ - a Gaelic careers event at Eden Court.
Pupils participated in interactive workshops and met representatives from various sectors, including creative industries, education, broadcasting and the public sector.
The activities and information showcased Gaelic, and highlighted opportunities in sectors where Gaelic language skills are an advantage within the labour market.
The event was organised by Highland Council and Skills Development Scotland.
Cabinet Secretary for Transport Fiona Hyslop has confirmed that the Scottish Government remains committed to fully dualling the A96.
In a statement to parliament this week, she said that the preference would be to deliver the A96 Dualling Inverness to Nairn, including the Nairn Bypass, as one project. However, due to the continued fiscal challenges, a phased approach is planned.
The project will begin with the construction of the Nairn Bypass and be followed by the remaining sections of the scheme.
Advanced works on the A9/A96 Inches to Smithton link will begin in 2026/27.
Scottish Water have unearthed the remnants of two Iron Age roundhouses during a sewer upgrade at Windhill near Muir of Ord.
Stone tools, decorated clay daub from the walls of the roundhouses, and metalworking furnaces were found alongside bone fragments from three burial mounds in a 90-metre trench.
Radiocarbon dating, isotope, and DNA analysis may provide insights into the area's former inhabitants.
Archaeologist Steven Birch, from West Coast Archaeological Services, described the finds as a "complex suite of archaeological features".
Highland Council’s Climate Change Committee noted ongoing progress in the Net Zero Programme.
Achievements included cutting 34 vehicles from the Council’s fleet, transitioning EV charging points to EZO by April, and launching a pilot for hydrotreated vegetable oil as a low-carbon fuel.
Councillor Kate Willis commented on the encouraging progress.
