A rolling programme of temporary traffic restrictions for the 2025 Etape Loch Ness cycle event will be in place around Inverness and Loch Ness from 6pm this evening (Saturday 26th April) and all day tomorrow (Sunday 27 April) 

This includes the A82 and B862 from Inverness to Fort Augustus.

Caravan park owners are appealing for fairer licensing and safety rules around car parks for overnight motorhome users.

The call comes after Forestry Land and Scotland added several more bays to its Stay the Night scheme this month, which allows campervan and motorhome users to park overnight for ten pounds.  This is on top of Highland council’s voluntary, forty-pound, seven-day pass scheme.

Accusing Scottish Government of allowing fly-by-night campsites, business owners are
demanding a level playing field between businesses and landowners, including local authorities, when it comes to safety checks and licensing.

Scotland’s Finest Woods Awards is marking 40 years of celebrating all that is great about the country’s woodlands and forests.

These unique awards demonstrate the broad range of forestry across Scotland, with origins in productive forestry as well as other examples of woodland management.

Alongside existing categories - which include Farm Woodland, New Native Wood and Community Woodland – a new category of Urban Forestry has been introduced this year.

Ross County and Inverness Caley Thistle are both sitting one point above the playoff relegation place in their respective leagues. 

County has five matches remaining in the Premiership and has an away game against Kilmarnock while Caley Thistle has just two games left in League One and is at home to Arbroath, already confirmed as league winners.
