The Gairloch Highland Gathering will return in early July 2026 celebrating over 20 years of bringing the Community together…
This year the focus will be on Music, with a fresh festival vibe to get people into the Summer spirit. The organisers have said that as well as music, the event will include local food, family friendly fun and all of the traditional elements that make the Gathering so special.
Taking place on the 3rd and 4th July a full line up and ticket details will be revealed soon.
The first recipients of the Scottish Government’s new Expanded Festivals Fund have been announced….
This includes the Under Canvas Music Festival at Eden Court, Highlands which has been awarded £71000, which marks a major step in widening support for Scotland’s festivals, and strengthening opportunities for artists and audiences across the country.
In total Creative Scotland has awarded just under 2 million pounds of funding to 28 festivals in the first tranche of support for the new Expanded Fund.
At the weekend, three ports on the West coast of Scotland were treated to a visit from the new CalMac vessel The Isle of Islay..
Newly completed in February in Turkey, the new vessel has made her way to the UK, as well as stopping to assist with a sea rescue in Morocco. This weekend, she underwent sea and berthing trials at both Oban, Ullapool and Troon to see if she was suitable for acting as a stand in vessel, should this be required.
A large number of people turned out on Saturday evening to see her arrive at the linkspan area at Ullapool Harbour Trust.
