A forty-two-point-two million-pound expansion project is scheduled to begin at Kishorn Port next week creating 84 jobs for up to 18 months.

Along with other facilities, Kishorn’s dry dock, which has one of the largest openings of any dry dock facility in Europe, will be enlarged.  A spokesman for the facility said that the development will open the port to new market opportunities. These, in turn, will provide a catalyst for the support and creation of jobs within Wester Ross and the wider Highlands, benefiting communities across the area.

The investment forms part of the Scottish Government’s commitment of up to five-hundred-million pounds over five years to develop ports and offshore wind energy supply chain.

Fearless, the youth arm of Crimestoppers, has launched a new resource aimed at helping young people better understand, recognize and respond to sextortion.

An impact report reveals that the social media campaign generated over 98,000 swipes to the Fearless website, which is believed to be a key factor in the 32.2% decrease in reports of sextortion in 2024.

Police Scotland said that sextortion is a particularly insidious crime and anyone who is a victim should never pay or comply but report it.

Investigating officers will support victims and carry out a thorough and robust inquiry.
